MoneyLog legal
Privacy Policy
Effective and last updated: September 23, 2026
The short version: MoneyLog does not require an account, has no advertising or third-party analytics, and does not operate a cloud database or cloud sync service for your financial records. Financial records are stored locally on your device. MoneyLog does not automatically upload them to MoneyLog servers. Depending on your device and operating-system settings, MoneyLog data may be included in backups managed by Apple.
1. Who we are
MoneyLog is an offline-first personal finance application published by Reshma Parveen as an individual developer. In this policy, “MoneyLog,” “we,” and “us” refer to the app and its publisher.
2. Information stored by the app
Information you enter or import into MoneyLog is stored locally on your device. Depending on how you use the app, this can include:
- transactions, amounts, dates, notes, merchants, and categories;
- account labels and limited account identifiers you choose to save;
- budgets, merchant rules, and display preferences;
- app-lock settings and security verification data; and
- temporary recovery data for an unfinished transaction scan.
MoneyLog does not require a MoneyLog account, does not operate an account-based cloud synchronization service, and does not automatically send your financial records to MoneyLog servers.
3. Android transaction SMS scanning
SMS scanning is available only on Android and requires the Android Read SMS permission. The app asks for this permission in context, and scanning begins only after you choose to start it. MoneyLog does not receive incoming SMS messages or monitor SMS in the background.
During a scan, MoneyLog processes the following on your device:
- message sender;
- message text;
- message date and time; and
- the device’s internal message identifier.
This information is used to identify possible financial transactions, prevent duplicate imports, and present candidates for your review. Raw message text is not uploaded and is not retained in MoneyLog’s unfinished-scan recovery file. An unfinished scan may temporarily keep locally derived candidate details, such as amount, sender, date, transaction type, reference, and limited account suffixes, so you can resume reviewing it.
Messages that do not match supported financial transaction patterns are not saved as financial records. MoneyLog saves a transaction only after you review and choose to import it. You can deny SMS permission and continue using manual entry, paste, and statement import features.
4. Files, exports, and backups
MoneyLog can process a statement file (such as PDF, CSV, XLS, or XLSX) only after you select it using your device’s file picker. Processing occurs entirely on your device. The app does not automatically upload selected statement files to MoneyLog or any external server.
When you export a CSV, MoneyLog creates a readable copy of your ledger and opens the system share interface. CSV files are not encrypted by MoneyLog. Anyone with access to an exported CSV may be able to read its contents.
MoneyLog backups are encrypted with the password you choose. The backup password is separate from your app PIN and is not stored by MoneyLog. We cannot recover a forgotten backup password. You choose where an export or backup is saved or shared. A destination such as iCloud Drive, Google Drive, Files, email, or another app handles that file under its own privacy terms.
Apple-managed device backups: On iOS, MoneyLog stores its local financial database in standard application storage that is eligible for operating-system backups. If you have enabled Apple device backups (such as iCloud Backup or a computer backup via Finder/iTunes), MoneyLog data may be included in those Apple-managed backups depending on your device and Apple account settings. Operating-system device backups are managed by Apple and your device settings, not by MoneyLog, and are separate from MoneyLog’s user-initiated encrypted backup feature.
5. In-app purchases and payments
MoneyLog offers an evaluation trial and an optional one-time purchase to unlock full access. In-app purchases are processed exclusively by the platform app stores:
- Google Play In-App Billing on Android devices; and
- Apple In-App Purchase on iOS devices.
All payment transactions, payment methods (such as credit/debit cards, UPI, net banking, or gift cards), and billing details are collected and handled directly by Google or Apple under their respective terms and privacy policies. MoneyLog never receives, processes, or stores your credit card numbers, banking credentials, or billing address.
To maintain and restore your commercial access offline, MoneyLog receives and stores an anonymized purchase verification token locally on your device.
6. Device permissions and security
- SMS on Android: used only for a transaction scan you start, as described above.
- Biometrics: used through your device’s operating system to unlock MoneyLog when you enable app lock. MoneyLog does not receive or store your fingerprint or face data.
- Files and sharing: system pickers and share controls are used when you choose to import, export, back up, or restore data.
You can manage permissions in your device settings. Some related features may be unavailable if a permission is denied, but manual transaction tracking remains available.
7. Information we receive
Support email
If you contact us, we receive the email address, message, and any files or information you choose to include. We use this information to respond, troubleshoot, protect the app, and handle privacy requests. When you choose to include technical details, MoneyLog can add the app version, operating-system version, and device model to a draft that you review in your email app before sending. The app does not automatically attach transactions, SMS messages, account details, backups, statements, PINs, passwords, purchase tokens, database identifiers, or application logs to that draft. Please do not send raw SMS messages, app-lock PINs, backup passwords, complete card or account numbers, or unredacted financial files.
App-store rating requests
After certain successful actions, MoneyLog may ask your device to show Apple’s or Google’s native in-app rating prompt. Eligibility is calculated locally from limited counters and timestamps. MoneyLog does not send transaction amounts, merchants, notes, SMS messages, statements, account details, or your rating through this feature, and cannot tell whether the platform displayed the prompt or whether you left a rating or review. You may also choose “Write a review” in Settings to open MoneyLog’s App Store or Google Play listing. Any rating or review you choose to submit is processed by Apple or Google under its own terms and privacy policy.

These pages are hosted by Netlify. When you visit, Netlify may process technical request information such as your IP address, browser and device details, requested page, referring page, and request time to deliver and secure the website. MoneyLog does not add advertising pixels, analytics scripts, forms, or application cookies to this website. See the Netlify Privacy Statement for information about Netlify’s processing.
8. Sharing and sale of information
We do not sell or rent personal information and do not use it for targeted advertising. We do not receive your locally stored app data unless you deliberately include information in a support request.
Information may otherwise be processed by:
- Netlify, which hosts this public website;
- Google, which provides the publisher’s support email service, Google Play In-App Billing, and native Play rating requests;
- Apple, which provides Apple In-App Purchase, native App Store rating requests, and optional device backups;
- a storage or sharing provider you choose for an app file; or
- authorities when disclosure is legally required.
9. Retention and deletion
App data remains on your device until you edit or delete it, erase MoneyLog data, or uninstall the app, subject to how your operating system handles app data and device backups. Files you export remain in the destination you selected until you delete them there.
Support correspondence is kept only as long as reasonably needed to respond, maintain support history, resolve disputes, meet legal obligations, and protect the app. You may ask us to delete personal information contained in support correspondence, subject to legal exceptions. Netlify and other providers apply their own retention practices to information they process.
10. Your choices and privacy rights
You can:
- use MoneyLog without creating an account;
- decline or revoke Android SMS permission;
- review transaction candidates before importing them;
- edit, delete, export, back up, or erase app data; and
- contact us about access, correction, deletion, or other privacy rights that may apply where you live.
Because we do not operate a MoneyLog account or cloud database, we generally cannot access or remotely delete data that exists only on your device or in a storage destination you selected.
11. Children’s privacy
MoneyLog is a personal finance tool and is not designed or directed to children. If you believe a child has sent personal information to our support address, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when MoneyLog’s features, data practices, or legal obligations change. The date at the top will identify the latest version. Material changes will be communicated through the app or its store listing when appropriate.
